It might just be a defective battery. It coulda had a weak cell. You should have a one or two year free replacement on that battery.

I think I got a 3 year warranty. But the Guy at autozone wants to try and charge it before he will replace it! I think that B.S.

Yeah, that is bull. They have to do it for warranty purposes. What sucks is if it's weak, after they charge it, it will pass the load test and they'll say it's a good battery and the problem is your car. What I did when I had a similar issue is, I deep cycled the battery overnight. Then returned it. They charged it and then tested it. It failed and they replaced the battery. this new red top I got has since out lived my last car.

From what he said I am guessing that he totally discharged the battery.
I.E. Leave the headlights on all night.

Are you sure you don't have a short circuit somewhere or accidently left on a light?
I had a small light under the hood of one of my vehicles that stuck on and kept draining my battery. I finally found it one night because it was shining on the ground under the car.

Thanks I'll check. I never had any issues with my yellow top. Do u think I need to switch back from the red to yellow?

The Yellow is a deep cycle battery and is more expensive.
Unless you are running a lot of electrical accessories, the Red should serve you just fine.

I'd make replace it. Doesn't Johnson Controls make it? If they do there shouldn't be any issues. AutoZone buys millions of battery's a year.

I had an issue with my battery at about 45 months. Took it back to my Ford Dealer and they replaced free of charge. I Wasn't expecting that at all. I was expecting to pay the pro-rated deal.

Just an update.... autozone wants to keep my battery for about 4 hours and try to slow charge it. Not sure of the outcome yet. Gonna go back after I get a few hours of sleep! You gotta love 3rd shift!

Sounds like that AutoZone is trying to give you the runaround!... And if that's the case then that's a bit shocking!.. The ones around here are quick to replace items that are under warranty!... Hopefully that's what they end up doing for you!.. Otherwise I'd take money elsewhere!..

Blaming the store for a manufacturers defect don't make much sense!.. I'm on my second battery in 12 years from Autozone!.. No problems!..

That's understandable.
The best way to charge any battery is very slowly so they don't boil and gas out which will cause the formation of scale and buildup on the plates slowly rendering them useless.

It should be fine. Any voltage from 12.5 & up is considered good.
You must have a small short circuit draining your battery?

I checked the battery cables and they were ok. I believe its got somethin to do with either the radio or the flip down map light. I just replaced the light about 2 months ago.

Try pulling the bulb, disconnecting or removing fuses on any problem accessories you might suspect. If the battery stays up with them removed, then you have located your problem.
