That's a good solid set up you have there. You running a custom tune or pre programmed tunes?

White; the SCT chip is a "canned" tune. That means that while it is adjusted for your mods, its not specific to your engine. Any other mustang with your mods would be able to use that, so its not completely optimized for your specific vehicle. A custom tune on the other hand is designed to be able to get the most out of your engine. Since they have the car there they can tweak it further without having to worry about detonation...and stuff lol. How much a gain you'll see is mostly dependant on your mods (more mods means more of a gain typically) and how good your tuner is. Also, when looking for a tuner be sure to let them know you have an SCT chip. Some tuners may not be able to "burn" their custom tune into the chip.

I somewhat agree.a custom tune is always better.but for a bolt on car the sct is still pretty good.the writers for those chips spend every day writing tunes with different combinations.that is all those guys do so for the most part their tunes work very well.any given motor can react to mods different than other motors,so its usually true that a custom tune is better.

I didnt mean to come off as bashing canned tunes/chips at all. They work very well and Im sure the people who do the tuning work hard and know what they're doing. Ive used canned tunes before and have never once had a problem with them!

True enough, buy anyone that uses the SCT software can write the tunes on the 4bank- I've revived confirmation on this from two local dyno tuners. One being FastLane which is now a national name in the biz. There are no handheld tuners available and the 4bank is a mainstay for fox and early SN95's(5.0L). There are other chip options some as good as the 4bank buy none better until you get into something like the AFM PMS set up which IMO is in a whole different category

Thank you & Exactly!
Once a product has been proven to me to work as advertised I tend to go overboard supporting it.
Believe me, I have put in a lot of time researching tuning options for 89-95 Mustangs and I do believe that it is one of the best, if not the very best that money can buy.

Like a lot of you my Mustang modding money is hard to come by, so I really spend a lot of time researching and thinking before I buy.
I can't begin to tell you how many "deals" I have missed out on because of that tendency.
