Good cam swap or waste of time

Just picked up a 97 ford explorer 5.0 with gt-40p heads i was going to put a cam from a 89 mark vii 5.0 someone was telling me it has more power because the motor was made for bigger car so it had more power but the explorer is a truck so is it just a stock cam or a HO cam should i swap it out

Either way the cam is not made to work with your car.
I wouldn't waste my time swapping.
Just wait until you can get a performance cam matched up to work with your mods.

I ran a gt40p head and explorer intake on mine. I also did a e303 swap about a year after I had it. I didn't notice any power BUT If you run a 3.73 or 4.10 then you should get more of a gain using the cam. I was using the stock 2.73 gears while building a 8.8 and to me my car felt slower changing cams. BUT like I stated that cam needs higher gears and a higher stall converter would be better for autos
