Need a T5 expert!

I have an 83 gt with the srod 4 speed trany that is pretty much junk. I want to put a t5 in it. My question is pretty broad but I wanted know it is as simple as just bolting it on or do I have to change the clutch to hydrolic etc? I dont know if there are more than one type of t5 either, if so, which one would be appropriate?

Thanks

And which T5 do u have or are u getting? They are pretty universal but don't get one from a v6 the spline is smaller and the load capacity is less. Also the newer the better

Ok good to know, I currently have just a 302 in it and I haven't purchased one yet because I don't want to get it and it not work correctly.

I would look for a new 5.0 t5.they are better.you want a world class preferably 90-93,they are they strongest.but any year work.I'm not sure on your Bell housing but its possible u may need that to.

Also I would change the clutch anyways while u have trans out.as long as u get the kit,it should come with the right bearings.
