MAss air

I have a 91 wiring harness but some of the wires are cut could I use the mass air pigtails off this wire for my 88 Lx or should I buy the whole kit instead of putting things together

You'd be much better off with a complete harness to prevent any future wiring issues.
You could piece it together as long as you followed the same wiring diagram throughout the system and crimp, solder and insulate any connections thoroughly.

Also need to make sure it has all the correct plugs, there are a few mass air harnesses but each one has different plugs, check the plugs down by the computer and the main plug(s) up by the brake booster. 9 times outta 10 since yours is an 88 it will have a black and grey plugin by the boosters and a green and grey plugin down by the computer. An 89 harness should be direct bolt in, newer harness may require you to swap out the dash harness as well. Some have just 1 plug up by the booster and I think 4 plugs down by the computer(I tried using a 92 harness in my 87 gt and no go because it had more plugs down by the computer, I had power when key was on but wouldn't crank) there's also a harness that has the correct plugins by the computer but then only 1 plugin up by the computer. You can normally find a good complete harness on eBay but are sometimes pricey. I lucked out and found a complete 89 maf harness for $50 bucks on CS cuz the guy was going carbed and just wanted it gone.

like trojan said, it up to u... and ur overall confidence level.

there's four wire's as u know....signal-in, signal-out, power, and ground.

out of the four, only two (signal wires) have to be tied into the harness/pcm plug. u can run the hot to any "ignition" powered wire.

ur 88 harness (if that's the one u wanna use) already has blank pins in the plug for the mass air. ford made provisions for the mass air way before they actualy put it in the car.

im gonna stop right there...

if wut im sayn sounds complicated.... pleeaase follow trojans instructions and get the whole kit.

if wut im sayn sounds simple, u can p.m. me or i can tell u better over the phone, how to route the pins into the harness.... as well as locating the correct pins.

wow, i wish i had been around when u did ur mass air swap bud. i added mass air to my 87gt harness, then took out whole harness and put it in my 90v6 tbird for a v8 swap..... drove the car a few years then put that harness in my 92 stang coupe.

i read your post and im like....wow, u had a hard way to go...

Oh yeah, I played hell finding the right harness heh. I had a pin kit from Granetelli but I didnt like it, I liked having the whole actual harness to just plug in and go.

one of those operates your fuel pump and sending unit..... and if i remember correctly the other operated the o2's..but dont quote me on it.

you should find provisions for those plugs in 89+ car though
