Xmission issue or clutch adjustment needed

My 86 5 speed grinds on second and reverse, I think there is an issue with the xmission but don't know any help would be outstanding

Could be the synchronisers going bad, are those the only two gears it grinds in?

Agreed on both parts...2nd and reverse are usually the most abused syncros...if they aren't completely trashed a little clutch adjustment should help if not fix it completely (well almost)..

Thanks I will definitely try to make adjustments first, and if not then I will be looking for a rebuild

If it is the tranny get it fixed before the gear goes completely out and costs a lot more money to fix. My pontiac sunfire did what your describing and then fourth gear went out because of that the price of fixing it went way up

If you are going for a heavily modified street/race car, take a look at the Tremec TKO transmissions.
