Sounds like your MAF has gone bad or needs cleaning.

Try cleaning the MAF sensor first.
Use some rubbing alcohol or sensor safe carb cleaner and a cotton swab.
Be very careful to not break the sensor.

The pop in the intake could be caused by a timing issue or a vacuum leak.
Spray some carb cleaner around the intake and fuel injectors to see if the engine speed changes while it is idling. Be careful as the carb cleaner will damage any painted surfaces you get it on.
