TFS pedestal mount heads

was just scouring the local craigslist ads for good deals and found this ad for pedestal mount trick flow aluminum heads. I'm assuming they were built years ago. Anyway, I contacted him and he wants $700.00 for them. Here is the ad 5.0L Mustang parts

Are they worth this? Anything I should look for if I decide to take a peak at them?

Thanks.

Depending on how old they are it may be worth it.I'm assuming the heads are off the car.make sure all the valves are flush.check for gulling on all the important sealing surfaces.they should have a part number stamped on them.if you have smart phone you can Google the number to verify what set they are.

The thing that makes me think they are definitely old is because he is also selling 6.25 tfs pushrods.find out if he was running those on them heads.because I have a new set of those heads, b303 cam, and I have to run 6.75 length pushrods.now I don't know if the older heads allowed for stock length(6.25) pushrods or not.

Re: TFS pedestal mount heads

Go look at them first or have him send you some clear, close up pics of all the sealing surfaces, plug holes, chambers and rocker pedestals. Look for any cracks or welded areas.

I asked for pics but he said they are in the shop right now. I'm going out of town next week so I will probably miss out on them.

That might be a blessing in disguise for you.
When they start crawfishing on simple requests, beware.

An honest straightforward seller will always be willing to provide photos and details without question or excuses.

Also, most likely if they were for sale they would not be in the shop.

This was his exact response....

" Sorry no pics they are at a shop right now."

I heard that the pedestal mount ones are fairly old so maybe I will just pass on it in case something is wrong with em.
