need picture

My 83 throws the belt. There is no idler or tension pully on it. The powersteering pump has the sq hole for ratchet, but the bracket that holds it is not adjustable. Chiltons shows 5 pictures and none are like mine. Trying to figure out if tensioner pulley is missing , or if the wrong pump bracket was used. Thanks in advance

According to the diagram I found it should have a tensioner.

Thanks Trojan. I'll look 2maro, I think its the alternator bracket that's been changed . I don't remember it having a place on it for the tensioner.

That's always possible. You never know what some owner before you may have done.

Thanks for the help Trojan . The ap and ac have been removed as well as the tensioner pulley. Question is, i don't have original ac hardware , what part# would I need to locate the ps pump to where the ac was so I can run a tenisioner on it. Where it is now will not have enough clearance between the belt and wp. Car is 1983

Thanks man also there is what looks to b a fresh air hole on each inner fender that possibily go to the breather. Would it make much a difference if I ducted them back in.

MPS Mustang Parts Specialties may be able to hook you up with an original bracket.

The car probably came with a dual snorkel air cleaner?
Hooking them back up will supply cold air to your engine which will help its performance a bit.

Re: need picture

Frpp makes the ps pump relocate brackets, its basically just,a old non ac car bracket. Problems I ran into on mine with the diff pullies I,couldnt find a belt to fit without tensioner squeezing belt together at the water pump. Put a march alt bracket on it, problem solved lol

This is the frpp ac delete.I actually purchased the "off road accessory drive kit" from lrs for about 130$. It came with ac delete, smog delete, ud pulleys, and proper belt. I ended up needing a high amp alternator because with the ud pulleys I had charging issues.

Ya I talked to lrs today, they said ther 85 up kit wouldn't work do to rotation diff. I'll try trick flo, a tensioner on the bottom would work. If not I'll get a fact tensioner and fabricate my own bracket to raise the ps pump. Anyone know how much the height difference between the ps pump and water pump should be for the factory tensioner to work.

---------- Post added at 03:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:04 PM ----------

No luck on trickflows site.
