86 gt ran perfect after new fuel pump and won't run now

Installed new fuel pump and drove it around for a little and parked it, now she won't stay running. Fires up and then dies right away. I'm guessing the new fuel pump is junk. It was cheap off Ebay, 18.00 bucks I paid for it. Think this might the problem? Thanks

I also just used starting fluid and sprayed it into the throttle and she will run a little longer and I can give it gas, but dies. Really thinking my new fuel pump is trash.

That is possible.fuel pumps are one of those item you don't go cheap.

Also make sure you didn't kink any lines.

Re: 86 gt ran perfect after new fuel pump and won't run now

Positive the lines are not kinked. Just dont understand how it ran perfect and then I let it sit for about an hr and now she won't stay running. I can hear the pump prime, but I've had a GMC Jimmy that would prime, but not start until I sprayed starting fluid in the throttle and it fired right up. Im going to invest in a new fuel pump asap. Any good ones I should look into? Thanks again for the input

A walbro should be good enough.not eBay cheap but not to pricey.

You can try running a jumper wire and ground straight to the pump, bypassing everything and see if its working.

And/or check fuel pressure.

you can. but i would recommend a 190. you will still have room to grow with the 190. with the 255 you maybe recirculating the fuel alot.

I wouldn't use starting fluid on a gas engine, unless its a briggs&stratton. Will lock your motor up .

The shaking I found out was the harmonic balancer. I could hear it hitting the pointer. Rubber also was peeling out from behind the balancer. Going to replace it this weekend. Hope all goes well, thanks
