1988 convertible latch

Does anyone know if you can replace the latch without peeling back the top?

Well thanks for replying. In your picture, is that a matte black paint job or vinyl wrap? Just wondering as I want to do the same.

It maybe possible but I never replaced mine.sorry I couldn't be of more help. My latch did crack and I repaired it.I did replace my top and it does not hook to the latch,or it least I don't remember it.I suppose if you put top up/down in the right location it may be accessible?
