What's wrong with it? It's a mid 80's Plymouth Laser. I used to have one.

Re: wtf

Maybe they were thinking it's a hybrid. I'm with you guys in posts 3&4... Nothing wrong with it... for what it is. It isn't, however, a Ford atoll. Thankfully, I never had to own one.

I was trying to think of what car looked like, but it does look like a fox and laser blended together.

Yeah, the Internet can take you for a ride some times. When I had mine, I traded it strait up, for a Fox.

You also had dodge daytonas. They had one on the movie 'the wraith' back in the 80s to early 90s. I thought it was a fox body when I was a little kid. You don't really ever see these cars anymore

I love that movie. That opening race, the Daytona vs. the Corvette, Ozzy playing. It was awesome!

"They" didn't steal the Cobra name. Shelby named it himself and he used a Ford series of engines. He also worked with Ford on a number of projects and sold the rights to Ford in 1965. Ford attached it to several Mustangs, including the current Shelby GT500.

He went on to working on the GT40. He also had a heavy hand in the GT500, as he did with his 65 fastbacks, etc. Those weren't "stolen names," they were licensed... Shelby did the work in his own buildings for several versions and today, does the GT350 completely on site after a customer purchases their GT from a Ford dealer.

You may have meant "stole" in a funny manner, but I don't want people confused on it. Ford and Shelby have a strong relationship.

They also made the GLHS, which was perhaps the best FWD toy Shelby ever had a thing to do with, just because it was SHOCKING! If I remember correctly, the car began life as a Plymouth Horizon.

You get a gold start for having an informed argument. I'm impressed.

Thank you. After the military, I did a research paper and speech about Carroll Shelby in College. We got to pick and I thought he was cool for the Cobra far more than Mustang. At the time, I don't recall knowing anything about the Viper(it was still brand new) and it was during the research I learned more on his involvement there and with the GLHS.

Not exactly a gorgeous car, but it was impressive for what it was. It was also very lightweight(which didn't help traction).

If you were fully aware, why'd you claim, erroneously, that Ford stole the name from him? After all, you already knew that to be untrue because you already knew Ford bought the rights from Shelby... Were you trying to create a bias or just mislead the audience?

Not worth while arguing with know it all. And from what I remember that not how he explained it in his documentary. He explained more as take it or leave it. Why do u think he went to Chrysler . I need to argue anything with anyone. If I know anything about it I state my side and move on . I don't know anything about I keep my mouth shut . Now I can't same the same for everyone else. Next ur gonna tell me ford did have a hemi motor with overhead cams in the late 60 that was all aluminum .
