Blacked out taillights?

My car is getting painted right now. Has anyone used VHT's nite lights product? How good does it work, can you still see the taillights ok?

It works ok and depending on how much you put on the tail lights can remain adequately visible. The spray is actually a really dark red, so it doesn't affect the tail lights as much as you might think it would.

I Used VHT nightshade on mine. I sprayed an even layer of coats until it was dark enough and used clear over it.

However the FL cops do not like them even though you can see the lights just fine

No problem TH! they look dark but are so translucent that the brakes are still very bright!

I probably sprayed eight or so coats.

I wasn't sure if he could get away with that many coats.

I used it to black out my quarter windows. I didn't know it was red until I happened to have a trouble light inside the car one night. So I'll have to be careful about turning on the interior lights at night.

I've never had a problem with them over smoked tails, but they are horrible about the hids.

I took mine out for awhile and put stocks back in... Then recently I decided to put my other ones back in again. So far so good *knock on wood*

In Jefferson parish they have been horrible. My brother is a cop and jpso deputies just got memos to crack down on the tail lights and hids. Improper equipment tickets run around 175-200

Oh yeah forgot, prep is key. I have one taillight that it's chipping off of but my other lights are fine. Make sure you clean them properly before applying it.

Thanks, it takes time and patience to do the cheese graters. Also do lite coats and give each one a chance to dry, otherwise the tint may crack.
