TH nailed it. The clips that secure the pivot ball to the fork. Can't wait to finish this project. Weather is nice in Michigan right now. 80's- 90's. T tops off, sounds good right about now!

Tried welding it, but the metal was really thin and just melted

Yeah, that's really thin plus it is tempered so even if you had succeeded in welding it the heat would have taken the temper out of the clip and it wouldn't hold.

I read online that Dexron III/mercon atf is what the borg Warner t5 calls for. idk

World class...if it is it takes tf if not it takes gear oil.

I believe it's a wc t5, it has the timken stamp on the countershaft bearing race.

If its WC then it takes what Steve said. Just make sure you are positive. Because the wrong fluid will tear up your trans.

I researched 5 websites total that say if I have the timken stamp on that race, it's wc.

What I usually do is pull the numbers off the tag then Google. But that is a great technique when there is no tag to be found.

im not sure what the code u means. but it seams as if you have a non WC out of an 84 capri. now just to be sure you did use the tag id, not the case right?

Thats how I found out..while changing the clutch I spilled atf all over..and was like ”DAMNIT!!..hey cool I have a WC trans”
But I dont know if they offered non WC in 89 GT's did they?..

I believe they started using them in 84-85, but don't hold me to that.
