| Best sounding exhaust combo!
At the moment I have bbk equal length shortys and just ordered the flow master American thunder exhaust. What are your opinions for best sound - best horse power for the buck?

You basically have exactly what I had in mind for myself. It was just a toss up between the bassani X pipe and the bbk h pipe. Does the x pipe make a horse power difference over the h pipe or any type of difference during the powerband. I'm guessing the two designs would make some kind of difference. One with more torque and less horsepower with more of a focus on midrange power and the other the opposite. Any insight?

x pipe = more raspy higher end power
all in all the x pipe will make maybe 3-5 more hp give or take. not enough to worry about imo

Any insight? | Now I may be wrong but from what i was told , x-pipe gives you more top end horsepower an h-pipe gives you more bottom end horsepower , now also x-pipe gives you a raspy sound , h-pipe gives you a deeper sound If that makes sense,
I had bassani x-pipes with cats and switching to off-road made a huge difference in sound , right around 3,000rpms and up is where the deep raspy sound starts!!!

If I'm correct the American thunder cat back has super 40s or delta flow mufflers. They seem a bit quiet for my tastes I preffer the original 40 series.

i have pypes off road x pipe and pypes violators catback exhaust i love the combo. there is almost no drone and at crusing speed i can still talk to the person next to me but when you get on it, it screams through the gears. and the prices were great. i got lucky and bought the exhaust barely used for a 100 bucks and pypes was at Carlisle, PA and they sold me a new x-pipe for 160

Go to the Useful Info sticky thread and scroll down to the Car Craft article on exhaust for an example of how to configure the best "power producing" exhaust system.

Bummer your blowing smoke but I'm sure the end result of the replacement will be well worth it.
