If you are planning a 351W, then go for the bigger, better flowing heads.

With a stock 302 block
I don't know what the matching head would be in Trick Flow, but in AFR I would choose the 185 or 205 head for a mild 351W and the 225 for a wilder 351W.

I am not a big fan of Afr I have seen a lot of fast trick flow headed cars and the trick
Flows are less costly so getting back to the track heats what do u think on a stock 302 block

Ok, I just used them as an example because I am more familiar with them.

For a stock 302, I would go with the smaller flowing heads so you do not end up with stagnant air flow in the system, BUT if you are planning a 351W build I also wouldn't want to buy heads twice, so I would go ahead and get the larger, better flowing heads and just put up with any flow issues until I got the 351W finished and could swap them over to it.

I have the 170s. And I am happy with them. Trickflow says they flow enough to run a 351 but as suggested they wouldn't be as good as the bigger. On a stock 302 I would go with 170s If its gonna be a while before the 351.you could go with the 170s for now and get them ported. Trickflow says they have plenty of room to be ported. They also say the 170s flow as much as after 185s because the shorter runners.

185's are a good choice if you plan on building the 351..
