I don't know for sure if they were any different, but it would be marginal at best.
The factory 5.0 heads and induction are not designed for high HP and replacing them has been and always will be one of the best mods you can do.

Trick Flow makes a HCI/TEK (Heads, Cam & Intake or Top End Kit) that will take them from 215-225 HP up to 360 HP. That is a considerable improvement and illustrates how much the factory parts are choking the 5.0.

Only the ecu was different, the motor was the same as the lx and gt motors.

Only ECUs I know of are the A9L for manual cars and the A9P for auto cars. Never heard of a ECU specific for chp cars.

The difference for the motor was the chp cars had an oil cooler, like the 93 Cobra. They also had a high output alternator and heavy duty transmission cooler.

I don't know about the computer in them, like said a9l for manual and a9p for autos BUT a couple years back I bought a ford racing computer from summit racing when I did a maf conversion on my 87 gt and it reads A9S and if I'm remembering correctly it was calibrated for cobra specs, don't quote me in that but idk if they used that type of ecu in those cars or not.
