He could be saying bad synchro but that could also mean 4th gear is damaged!..it could have chipped or missing teeth.imo I would stay away from a used trans someone is saying is ”damaged”...BUT given the price if it is just a bad synchro thats prob a $20 fix...then yes its a steal!..

---------- Post added at 10:21 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:20 AM ----------

I'm thinking maybe even a yea if it is totally fryed cause it's $375 for tranny and 550 to rebuild. That's $900 for brand new tranny when tko is close to $3000 new

That rebuild price may not include a torn up gear, if it is. But I still think its probably a decent buy.

No that's a terrible price, you better let me know where it is so I can reprimand him for trying to sell it at that price.

Actually it sounds like a heck of a deal, IF that is all that's wrong with it.
I would want some type of assurance or guarantee that, that is the only issue.

Also find out which gear set it has and make sure it is not the wide gear set which is fine for road racing but not so good for the strip.

So that's a TKO 500 instead of a 600?
The Road Race TKO has a .64 instead of a .82 OD and all 600's have a 2.87 first gear to work better with lower rear end gear ratios.

hey. are you gonna repair this and run at the track again before you do your motor? i am curious to see what you can do with a stock motor. i was impressed how much traction did to your time.

that would be cool to see you in the 13s stock.

it really makes me feel good about what im gonna do since my motor is already built and we have similar suspension. i feel like mine hooks pretty good on the street for how strong my motor is.

also what kind of shocks do you have?

I would put some good back shocks on to. It will help plant the weight transfer.

my motor is fully built. so if you can almost reach 13s hopefull 12s should come. all i need is a 12.9 . my goal is a 12 second street car. of course that is short term.

i like the way ou are taking it one step at a time and improving the areas that need it. i bet you cant wait to do your motor now.

It would be done if it wasn't for the funds... My street car runs high 11's in the quarter but my goal is a street car that runs in the 8's quarter mile.. It won't be this car but it will happen. This car when I'm done with the 408 on low to moderate boost I'm looking for mid 10's that can be daily driven with ac and heat

Re: Tko600

Captain, Those 90/10's are gong to be bouncy on the street and they won't work very well without at least some 50/50's on the back. You may want to consider 70/30's or if the budget ever allows some double adjustable struts/shocks would be the schiznit. Then with a few clicks of the adjusters you can be ready for street, road racing or drag racing.

Prolly won't be putting tranny in and running at track before mods to engine. Its prolly gonna take a few weeks for me to get tko fixed and I have all parts for engine mods. Except for push rods so imma hoping next week when I get home I'll be tearing the engine apart down to block and installing everything up to pushrods so I can order them. Then install the rest. I HOPE
