This weeks delemia !

I think my push rods are to short. The valve stem makings are riding high and everything I read says that's not right. Does anyone have a good Procedure for this my info is listed below.

Performer pedestal heads
Roller motor
Hydraulic lifters
Comp 1.7 cobra lifters ( non adjusting )

Right now I have comp cam 6.248 pushrods (what jegs customer service recommended )

I tried the adjustable push rod thing but if I adjust all the lash and the lifter starting to collapse the marks are still riding high. Confused !

you should have a set height for the vulcram on the roller rocker. you need to find out what that is , contact the manufacturer if you have to.
then get a adjustable pushrod. you can use the adj pushrod to get the length set perfectly. then measure it. that will tell what pushrods you need to order.

just to be sure you tightened the rockers down in the proper firing order?

i only asked because i have tried to use the wrong firing order before. you need the h.o. order.

like i said though you need to know the vulcrum height and use a pushrod lent checker.

I'm sorry I have pedestal mounts and 1.7 crane rockers. I was thinking I add somewhere around .015 to .025 to My measurement to get the lifter preload

The way I set my roller rockers is: when the lifters are down, in the firing order(I know you this but just saying) tighten the rocker to zero lash. The way I find zero lash is to:
Hand tighten the nut, while rolling the pushrods in your finger. When you can't roll the pushrod anymore, that is zero lash. Then with a wrench tighten the nut another 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn. Then it should be set.

Re: This weeks delemia !

Depends on whether you are using adjustable rocker studs or pedestal mount. On pedestal mount you just tighten them down.
