Clutch Pedal Issue. Help please!

When I got into my car to start it, I pressed down on the clutch and I felt like I broke something...alas when I went to check, my pedal went straight to the floor with no resistance pushing back against me. I looked under the dash (and in my manual) and I have zero idea what I could have done or what I broke. If anyone could give me any advice as to what to look for or what I need to do to fix this issue that would be greatly appreciated

You probably broke your clutch cable.
Get you a Chilton's or Haynes manual.
They will have the replacement procedure.

I recommend the OEM style cable from Maximum Motorsports.
It is much better made and will last longer than other aftermarket cables.
You may want to consider replacing the plastic factory quadrant, adding a firewall adjuster and doing the Clutch Cable Freeplay Mod while you are at it.

Re: Clutch Pedal Issue. Help please!

Thanks for the quick reply Trojan! You think it's the cable and not something to do with the pedal...or are they one in the same? Ive been trying to look up how the pedal works, and I found there's a plastic gear type mechanism that adjusts free play (supposedly). When I looked under my dash, there was a plastic "tab" but it wasn't hitting or connected to anything. On the other side of the pedal (to the left of that tab) it wasn't connected to anything either, but I think that's normal.

Edit: I have a Haynes manual, but couldn't find anything about the pedal assembly itself.

it could be the quadrant that trojan mentioned. it is located on the top of the pedal. it is very hard to see. but i would do as trojan suggested and get the whole kit. cable, quadrant, firewall adjuster.

p.s. to get to the quadrant some guys actually take the drivers seat out and lay on there back. because it is way up under there. almost behind the speedo!

That plastic piece is the factory quadrant. Pretty useless piece.

The clutch cable is not too hard to replace

I honestly can't remember the manufacturer, but it is an aluminum quick release designed for faster clutch engagement when drag racing.

All the little things add up at the finish line.
