it definitly looks worn. but im personally not sure how much wear is to bad. i do think that it surely isnt helping the starting issue.

Gonna start with a fresh flywheel, put my smaller aod starter back in, use the bellhousing from my 87 so I don't have to put a bolt and nut through the bottom starter hole. I think that was one issue, vibrations would cause it to slide away from the flywheel so my car was completely unstartable without pushing because the hole was drilled out bigger than the bolt to fit in.

You should need the 50 oz. imbalance, IF no one has changed the engine in the past.

I don't remember how they do the imbalance, but can't you tell by looking at the current one? It should have either weights or extra holes drilled on one side?

Welp..i have the 50oz ford racing flywheel. and I guess if it has anything to look for it's on the engine side. Makes sense not to have clutch side obviously.

Yeah the holes look symmetrical. But if it has a weight it would probably have to be on the motor side so it didn't interfere with the clutch disc

It's done by a counterweight on the flywheel. I don't know how to tell visually between a 50 and a 28 all by themselves, but if you had them side by side it would be easy to tell. Sometimes the weights are bolted on the aftermarket flywheels, but a stock one will have them cast in permanently.

Shoulda told him to get me a billet flywheel lol.

Since I'm waiting on my buddy to get me a new flywheel I decided to try to strap my battery down somewhat like the track guy wanted.

I had a battery strap down I had bought for my old ford truck I used to have. Took a drill bit and drill the battery tray in 2 places to utilize the hooks.

Looks like it should work. Might still move the entire tray a little since its just plastic but should def be firm now if they want to try and move it around.

Only problem is I could only find the one wing nut....have no idea what I did with the other.

I knew you would comment bout the wingnut lol.

After i get my car back to the track for hopefully more than 2 passes on the 21st I'm probably gonna make a new thread for my 5 lug swap unless TH says its ok to put it in here.

I was thinking about doing the battery in the trunk thing but I don't want to spend the dough on a kit lol.

Since a 5-lug swap does not have much to do with an AOD swap, it would be better to put it in another thread.

Got the flywheel,it definately looks ALOT better than my old one. Noticed my old one was actually missing 2 teeth and been ground down quite a bit compared to the new one.

Well there's one this Sunday then I think one more another Sunday which are just test and tunes. Gonna try to get my car together for this Sunday. Told my buddy if he doesn't take his car but still goes to bring his truck and trailor so I can run the drag radials so I can go all out and if something breaks I can get my car towed back home lol.

We've got two more days left too. Our test & tunes are on Wed evenings. If the weather is right, I'm gonna spectate this week. I'm hoping the last Wed's weather will be okay, cause that's when I'd like to run again. I really want to change my clutch cable to a firewall adjuster type. I have an adjustable cable now, but I want to be able to lower my pedal and shorten the overall travel of my clutch pedal. This Exedy clutch has a much smaller clutch slip area.
