| Swapping out the AOD
Alright fellas, I'm starting my 5 speed swap. I already have everything I need(I think) to complete it.
Just got done pulling my aod about a half hour ago and it wasn't too bad.
Now, are there any tips or tricks I need to use when swapping in my t-5? I was told by a buddy I needed to swap in a harness from the donor car(the one with the 2 studs sticking out) because it has the neutral safety switch in it but from what I've read they all gave the neutral safety switch already in them.
Or is the 2 prong on the manual part of the neutral switch? If that's the case I can't save it....looks to have been laying on a h pipe :/

I don't know about the neutral saflety switch. But the harness for the reverse lights may need swapped.

Now can anyone tell me exactly what these are for?

I think you can reuse your radiator but may need to block off the trans lines on it.

I heard some guys fill it up through the shifter whole. I always fill it first then tape a bag around the tailshaft very good. I only loose a little bit, and I have done it quiylte a few times.

That stuff doesn't taste very good ya' know, so I had no desire for a repeat performance so to speak.

I actually just took the yoke off my other driveshaft and slid it on, worked like a charm but I didn't take into account the dipstick tube a d when I pulled it it gushed ATF all over the floor.
Oh well, guess that's why they make absorbent
Got a new trans mount, pilot bearing, alignment tool and some blue thread locker, gonna see if I can get some more done tonight unless the wife is grumpy :S

What I usually say is.. No just until I'm done!! | I usually just say "give me a minute" which turns into a half hour or more, that really gets her going
On another note, should I put a little grease around and behind the pilot bearing before I put it in?

Alright, pilot bearing in, flywheel on, clutch and pressure plate on, bellhousing with fork on, clutch cable ran.
Having a bit of trouble with the auto shifter, I have the 4 screws out. Won't come out.....do I need to remove the center console? Thought I read it could be taken out with it intact but the arm on the bottom of the shifter seems to be in the way...

You need to pull the console and trim a little metal away to make the fit better.

Just seems it doesn't want to come out. I'll take the console apart tomorrow if the wife allows it.....she looked pretty pissed when I came in tonight heh.

| Re: Swapping out the AOD Women are never happy. My wife was just the same as all of yours. Now that I'm damaged goods and unable to get out and do much she wishes I could.
So tell yours to be careful what she wishes for, cause you know someone who's wife wished the same and now that it came true, it's not quite what she had in mind.
