Rear end shifting

alright whenever i put the pedal to the floor or even a little more than halfway my rear shifts and i hear a knock from the back. or when i down shift into 1st or 2nd. i thought this was maybe because my torque box was beat up but a few people told me that wouldnt be the issue. what causes rear ends to shift like this?

make sure the bolts are tight on the trans and the crossmember is in place properly.

i dont know for sure. but if the torque boxes are in the proccess of ripping out, i could see movement.

Re: Rear end shifting

Make sure the bushings in the rear control arms are not pounded out too.

Are you supposed to be able to see the rubber when you look at the ends of the control arms?

your probably just gonna have to make a judgment call on that. if they look ok they probably are. maybe take a small pry bar and see if you can move the arm back and forth alot?
