Got the first piece

So I finally got my 130 amp alternator. Now, what else do i need in order to install it into my car? I read that I would need to modify the alternator bracket and purchase some 4 gauge wire for the alternator cause the stock wire won't do.

Easiest way is to order the wiring kit from PA Performance. Otherwise you need 4 GA positive and ground wires. Ground wires are just important as positive wires. You will need one of the following: maxi fuse and holder, waffle style fuse and holder or a circuit breaker. Personally I like the circuit breakers in case of a fault it is just a reset button and not a $5 fuse. Also look online for the modification needed to the stock alternator wiring harness, it is quite simple. The modification to the alt bracket is straight forward if you have a dremel tool or some type of due grinder. You will really notice a difference if you have stereo or other equipment drawing power. Good luck.

What I did was go to the junkyard and take the lead from a 95+ mustang.. It will take place of the current lead that is 6 gauge

Re: Got the first piece

So I am about to order the PA performance power wire kit. Do I also need a voltage regultor or rectifier/alternator plug?

Yes just buy the wiring kit. The plugs you need for the alternator are already in the car. 1 will just plug on and the other needs alteration then it will plug on. The alternator should already have the voltage regulator on it. PA Performance's website has the install instruction I believe. Otherwise do a search on the swap and I'm sure you'll find numerous posts on the wiring change.

Re: Got the first piece

Thanks a bunch, I'll post up pictures of the process while i'm going through it. So I don't need to alter the wiring harness at all? And a die grinder will work fine with the bracket alteration?
