Wheel bearing???? Plz help

So here is one for you guys I have a 90 GT and I have replaced the bearing on the front of my car twice already thinking it is that! After a week of having each set in it sounds like the damn bearings are going again! It sounds like there is no grease in there and it is bearing on bearing!! Can some atleast give me a heads up for something! It's not expensive to replace but damn annoying to keep on with! Anything helps!

Re: Wheel bearing???? Plz help

Make sure the bearings you are buying are "Made in the USA". China made bearings fail with amazing rapidity.

Just finished up a job at an auto parts dealer, and saw a row of "TIMKEN" boxes. Haha.

When you changed them out, did the noise stop for a while?

You didn't knock the outside bearing race off and put it back in did you? May have gotten dirt in it I've knocked it off before

Tell us how you installed them? Preload set correct? Did you check for play when you were done?

You had to pack the bearings?
I thought 87 and up used a sealed bearing?
Maybe you have been using the wrong bearings?

Re: Wheel bearing???? Plz help

I checked. The 79-93 use the old style bearing and race. The 94-99 use the sealed bearings.

I got it confused from reading about installing 94-95 front spindles and hubs in a 5-lug conversion.
