MSD

Just Got an 86 GT with a 91 engine. Was vacuuming and found these under the dash. How do I now if there hooked up and if there working properly.

youmcan test the big red wire for 12 volts. you can also unplug the big red and see if you have voltage. as tfor the rev controller, try to rev it past 5800.

sorry, i just realized. i think the rev control works through the box. so just rev it and see what happens

Ya the rev control is pluged into the other msd box by a 4 wire plug. Do u now what the black box is. No name on it. What should happen at 5800 rpm. Thanks for ur help

i havent personally used the soft touch rev control. but the black box is hooked to the rev control right? the 5800 is just a pill that is used to set the rpm limit. when you hit that limit the msd will automatically skip certain sparks to control the rpm. you can get pill kits at jegs and summit to adjust the limit. my msd box has it built in. but i havent bought any pills yet.

And I live in MO.
When you have time use the model numbers off of the MSD components that have them and go to the MSD website. There you will find owner's manuals, instructions and wiring diagrams in case you ever need them.
That black box could be an RPM activated switch, two step or other MSD add on module. Hard to say without any numbers to check.
