Getting beat?

E and my buddy both have 5.0s and his is basically stock besides straight pipes. And mine has longtubes H pipe-cai-a/c and smog removed-gt40heads-3.73 gears-hurst shifter(ithink)- and a few more.... But we can be going down the road and he will step on it and almost blow me away.. I can beat him off the line most of the time but from a "rolling" start he beats me.. It's like his is quicker. I don't no why.. What is wrong?

I've raced my buddy in his 91, he's got 3.73's, I've got 3.55's. He usually gets me at the start, I'll catch him before 1/8th. Our mods are similar, though he should be making more power. Weight differences?

In order to get it tuned, you'd need to take it to a performance shop and they'll do it for a fee. I wouldn't get it tuned without major mods unless you don't plan on adding much more.

You are wasting money to tune with your mods. The stock computer can more than compensate for what you have done. Did you actually install 3.55's or are you guessing?

Yeah.. It just seams like his has a quicker throttle response not like it's the gears like the motors just better :S like going from a V6 to. V8 but not quite that dramatic..

Re: Getting beat?

Buy you a Chilton's book if you don't already have one and do a basic tune up.

Advance your timing 2-4 degrees, run premium fuel and remove any unnecessary weight.
