firing order.

1984 mustang with a 302. I can't figure out if its a H.O. or not. They are 351w heads not sure if that'll make a difference with the firing order.

no its not HO. unless you have a roller cam.

Well the lifters, but that's obvious. But you have to use the right firing order or it won't run right

It possible but most likely timing. Maybe fuel pressure?

What is your timing set at? Set it to 10

I'm going to get a timing light tomorrow. Is their any way to test the fuel pressure?

That's a timming issue, don't mess the carb to much or you'll be there for hours once you get it timed, trying to fine tune her.. It sounds like its 180• degrees off.. And firing order has to do with the cam not the heads.. Put cylinder # 1 at top dead center o intake stroke remove your distributor cap and see if the rotor is facing where the #1 spark plug wire would be on cap.. If off remove distributor while #1 is at top dead center on intake stroke.. Install distributor with rotor facing # 1 spark plug wire on cap, install cap and fire her up.. That should get you close enough to run with out back fires, get timing light at set to 10 degrees if stock, 11-14 if any major mods
