Whats Needed

I'm removing the EGR System on my 87 EFI engine. I was wondering if I would need to take my computer in to get flashed or anything for it to run correctly. Its a 5 speed car thats been converted to Mass Air Flow. If it make a difference it aslo has an Edelbrock Performer Intake 75mm TB and 24lb injectors. Any input would be greatly appreciated Thanks

You need to flash computer if you don't want the check engine light.

Re: Whats Needed

Does a flash need to be done by a shop and if so about how much does it cost. I was going to take it to a shop to do a tune and a dyno pull I live near detroit so performance mustang shops are very abundant.

I assume your cpu is chipped
Yes your dyno shop can eliminate the CEL when he tunes it. My guy
Didn't charge me so I'm not sure on price. You will need to get a egr block off plate.

To get the most out of your dyno tune I would chip it. I have a sct chip. Realspeed automotive.com that's the mustang shop I use. They have a helpful question answer section about dyno tuning. Check out the site it might help u get some answers.

Re: Whats Needed

Just get the EGR CEL Eliminator from eBay or make one per the drawing below.
You don't need a dyno tune or a chip until you have made lots of mods or you are going to use forced induction. Otherwise it's a waste of money on these cars. The ECU can handle quite a few mods before you need to worry about dyno tuning or chipping.
