clutch help

I recently put a new clutch kit in my 89 gt at first the clutch was stiff now when you push the clutch in you hear a loud click noise and the pedal goes to the floor but the clutch doesn't release. I looked and the pedal isn't pulling the clutch cable so I'm guessing there a mechanism on the the pedal that's bad? Anyone got any ideas

Did you check to see if maybe the cable came unhooked?

And when you push the clutch the cable doesn't move at all? Not trying to make you sound dumb but you did check under the dash for the cable being on the quadrant?

Re: clutch help

Ya I could see the cable the whole time it would move a little bit then you hear the click and the pedal goes to the floor and the cable gets slack again. I was told those have a type of clutch to where its a self adjusting clutch

It is what the cable attaches to on the clutch pedal. The factory one is plastic and sounds like it is slipping.

That will do it, just reminded me we fixed my buddies car that doing something similar, press the clutch and it wouldnt disengage the clutch. We put a zoom cable and quadrant on it, bam problem solved. But if you go that route get the firewall adjuster with it because you can only adjust the zoom cable from under the car,
