The heavy duty t5s by ford racing are rated at 300#torque. Pretty sure that's the same one your referring to. They wouldn't much difference on paper ratings anyway

I'm aware of that. That's what tremic/ Borg and warner list them at. My stock t-5 has lasted years and years of abuse well over 300

I destroyed 2 T5s in my 94 Cobra. Only putting down around 300 HP to the tires. The original tranny exploded upon launch on a prepped track with Nitto drag radials. The second tranny blew third on a hard shift on the street.

So, are stock Cobra transmissions any different than stock GT transmissions? I was under the impression that they were the same.

They were the same world-class T5 in both the GT and Cobra.

When I raced I drove it like I stole it. I was not concerned about anything breaking. I shifted as hard and as fast as I could and it showed on my E.T.s

A T5 is an overall weak tranny and will break eventually if you drive it hard. It's just a matter of when.

It is definitely the way you drive it. Some people get away with 4 banger trannies that are rated even lower than the v8 brothers. Hard shifting and hard launching will destroy it way faster As chief experienced.

Nice firm shifting at normal rpms and your clutch and trans will grow old together, even at higher levels of power. But that's no fun!

I have a tremec transmission with king cobra clutch and love it. Blew second gear in both stock tranny's. The tremec is bullet proof!!!!! Going on about 15 years. Still no problems.

I've got the ram clutch and stock t5 on my
331...in all honesty unless your not banging the gears in and you take care of it you shouldn't have any problems
