my HCI swap

Never did find time to start ripping into my car so I had to have someone else do it. Anyway, here are some pics of the tear down so far.

I have a set of 1.7s but I'm worried about ptv clearance. So putting the stockers on until I can find someone to trade for their 1.6s. It's gonna happen though.

You should have checked ptv before you torqued the heads silly. Then you would've know if you could use the 1.7s.

Budget build. Some p heads I got for $250. Fully ported upper and lower explorer intake I got combined with 70mm holly tb and 70 mm egr spacer all for $150. The cam is the e cam I got brand new for $50.00 from a guy who had it sitting on the shelf for almost a decade. Shopped around for a whole year for the best deals. Got a 75mm pro flow maf with 24 lb injectors for $80. Sold the injectors for $80 so maf was free. Bought a new set of 24lb injectors from a guy I work with for $75.00. Water pump, timing chain, 255 lph fuel pump all brand new. Just ordered an adjustable fuel pressure regulator for it. I'm excited to see how different it feels from stock when done.

Also forgot putting in a new electric fan as well.

The difference over stock is gonna be a pretty good gain. But it won't blow your mind but that's the exact setup I had in my 85' w/ 1.6rr I made almost 280 rwhp with dyno tune

I almost put a b cam in mine when I had the whole top end tore down but figured the wife would have been pissed then I found out she wouldn't have cared :banghead;

looks like a whole gt40 top end, I went with gt40p's and a Bbk SSI-r. Be careful of the wires and header clearance. I went with MSD 90 degree plug wires to avoid burning through my wires. I tried a heat sleeve on the one wire but it still melted until I switched the 90 degree ones.

It's just an explorer intake but both upper and lower were ported including being opened up to match the 70mm tb.

I would be satisfied with that type of gain for this car. I want to get another one eventually and probably give this one to my wife.

I was considering the b cam too but I got the steal on the e cam so I went with that.

Way better throttle response than stock. Had an electric fan put on too. Cam sounds great. Next up is tranny swap. Only thing I am missing is a valve cover cap for one of the valve covers. Does anyone know where I can get one?

I have a nice Ford racing breather in the driver side but under the throttle body I can't fit a breather in there. That's the one I need.

---------- Post added at 08:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:04 PM ----------

For the time being I put a rubber grommet in it from my hatch.

Cool I will. It's in the garage now but I will be taking it out to clean it up for the American Muscle car show on Sunday. I'm not entered but I'm going.
