Need Help

1994 mustang gt

Car drove really good today after I put a new PIP in it a couple weeks ago now it's running like crap/not running at all untill it's cooled down. I have a snap on scanner and it keep throwing the pip code any suggestions why the pip is still messing up? Also has anyone out there used the MSD billet dist. for the TFI? Thinking about just getting it and eliminating the oem dist.

I'm not sure if bad internals on a dizzy could keep burning up the pip... You should possibly check the continuity and voltage running to the pip look for a drop in voltage and/or a broken wire causing it to ground..

You probably got a bad PIP or your distributor is just worn out.
I have used the MSD distributors and ignition boxes for many years with excellent results. The MSD distributor is a much better built piece and it is more accurate than the factory.
Check your wiring to the distributor and make sure it is not cracked, broken and/or shorted out.
There is a link in the Useful Info thread for testing components.

Ok I believe I'm just gonna go with the MSD and call it good. I had a buddy look at mine and he said that the dis is wore out. there is evidence of it being rebuilt before I got the car.

If you can swing it get the distributor and the control box too.
Together they make quite a difference in your ignition.

If you opt to get the distributor only, make sure you choose the correct one, some will not work without the MSD box.

That's the one you need. It will work with or without the box.

Here's a LINK to the webpage if you want to read up on the instructions.
