I need carb advice on choosing

Well I'm buying my old car back h,c,I 302 was sold. As it sits now it is a cam only 351w. Plans will be adding some aluminum heads within 6 months. I am carb stupid and saids 10 years ago I would never own one again on a street car. However this car has a lot of potential and already has a cage. What brand and size carb would fit me? I also would like to choose a size that I would still have some grow on.

I personally like eldebroc. For a street car I'd go with 650cfm, no more than 750. Holley makes a damn good carb too.

I am running the 670 aluminium street avenger Holley. And its one of the best carbs I have had. Very easily tunable. It's good to about 400 hp.

For me it was truly bolt on performance. The carb has been flawless. I have b303, 1.72 rr, weiand stealth intake, and tfs heads. Just recently I installed a wideband gauge and my a/f was spot on. I haven't really drove it yet with the gauge though. Just only some idle + revs.

Re: I need carb advice on choosing

Holley style carbs are your best choice IMO.I have owned many others over the years and as a rule they were all either difficult or impossible to tune correctly or they wear out quickly.

I'd go with a 650 -750 myself with my personal preference being the 750 for a 351W.
You can tune it to operate at lower HP levels and then kick it up quite a bit for higher power when you need to.

I would also recommend a Super Tuning Holley Carburetors book by Alex Warlordy. It was one of the best investments I ever made when I was running Holey carbs. However it is out of print and may be expensive. An alternative might be - Super Tuning & Modifying Holley Carburetors by Dave Emanuel

Nowadays, though I would be more inclined to change it over to fuel injection.
