Technically yes, but nothing you would ever notice.

Oh alright, I have been using house brand oil and filter and its time for another oil change and wanted some thoughts on this before I spend 30 bucks or more on a oil change. Will a k&n filter make a difference over a cheaper one?

Well I'm not a oil tester or whatever so can't swear by saying they filtered the oil better, I've ran a k&n oil filter once or twice and it made no difference. I prefer a fram cause they are easier to use

Re: does oil make a difference in performance

I'm thinking more of a reliability on a good brand of oil than performance first.

Yes it can, but usually minimal 5 hp or less. What you should be more concerned about is quality.
I don't use "house brands" for just that reason.
