Alternator alterations

Hey guys! I know that you can upgrade to a bigger alternator from a newer Mustang. Can anyone tell me the year and does it matter from a V6 or V8? Are there any modifications I would have to do to fit this into my 1991 LX? Also, I have read that you need to change your TFI module every so many miles. What are the signs of a bad TFI module? Thanks in advance guys. Y'all rock!!

Here's a good write up, I would use a 94-95 Gt alternator.

Also there is instructions on how to test your tfi module in the stickies under useful mustang info. I havent heard anything about changing those at certain intervals before but generally you won't get a spark when it goes out.
