88 GT Idle issue

I have a stock 88GT with a MAF conversion and recently the idle just drops randomly. After driving and it sits for about 2 minutes idling the RPMS drop and it starts to lope and off idle cruising it lunges forward. Any ideas? Ive had the conversion done 5 years ago.

I had almost the same problem mixed with a little surging idle. Vac lines to smog pump were trashed. It will at least be a cheap and easy place to start.

Check the useful information sticky thread for a link to the infamous surging idle. There is a great link in there that covers this issue.

Mine stilll has some surging when it's cold. But I chalk that up to the MIL eliminator I have for the EGR until I get a tune. Dream is right, it could be anything. Just pointing a cheap way to start.

No video yet. At first start up in the mornings, it lope heavily and dies immediately. After a few minutes it's fine. I eliminated the smog and all EVAP lines and smog vacuum lines. The idle doesnt surge up and down, it just drops to 500rpm and lopes.

Sounds like your IAT (Intake Air Temp sensor) may be malfunctioning.
