Yes, it will help a good bit by allowing the front end to raise higher and quicker.
I took mine off years ago and never really noticed much difference on the street, but then I don't do any corner carving either. They do help you keep better control of your car, so leaving it on for the street is probably the best option like dreamstang said.
P.S. A set of UMI Lift Bars in place of your lower control arms will help plant the rear tires even better.
