331 with stock heads and intake

Im in the middle of rebuilding a motor for my fox and im going to pick up a 331 stroker kit from dss racing. Unfortunately a HCI upgrade will likely be out of the question until next winter when i put it away again but id like to drive it this spring/summer. Obviously it would make peak horsepower fairly low in the rpm range but how do you guys think it would do just as a driver for the time being?

It would be fine as a daily until you got the hci swap. I would hate to have to tear it apart again when it's already at that point now.

Well i could do the hci with it in the car. And since i live in ohio and i put it away in the winter due to snow and ice it would give me something to do next year if i do pull it back out.

Do you have a budget for this? Also, are you building the engine yourself?

You should do a h/ci instead of the stroker you won't see much gain with 331 on stock heads and intake, do the heads and intake on the 302 u will be happy the do the 331

Yeah. Im kind of thinking about just doing a 306 for now. I have a few other things in mind for the car id like to spend some money on before i get too heavy into the motor. Maybe just a low compression 306 and boost it later? That should hit the same amount of power im looking for as the 331 would.

I know a lot of guys that run decent heads cam and and intake with a s-trim make great power on a 302 enough to put them in high "tens"on a very street able setup. No need to do a 306 with a blower. Rebuild the motor bearings and piston rings I just ordered myn off summit cost me 150$
