Need help on clutch

I had a mechanic look at my 87 5.0 GT convert because I heard sounds when I start it and shut the engine down. Thought it was my pulley but he said It was my clutch and it was going bad. He put WD-40 around it and said that should help because it has locked up! Is this true? Anyone?

Flywheels wear just like clutches do. Every time you change the clutch you should resurface or replace the flywheel. Also a improperly installed clutch can tear up a flywheel pretty quickly
