Can a ford ranger pull a car?
The general rule is that the tow vehicle should outweigh the trailered package by 25% (Assuming no trailer brakes). If not you can run into a number of stability troubles, namely the back end trying to jack knife on you on down hill curves in the road, severely decreased braking performance from the front end being jacked up so high. If you you can find someone to rent you a tow dolly (which I doubt because of the tow vehicle's weight) they will warn you about this. It can be done. The rental agencies in my town used to be much sloppier I pulled a couple of Saturn sl1's, a s-10 blazer with my 4.3L v6 s-10. If you can get the dolly rented I would advise you to keep your speed under realtively low at all times, even slower before going downhill or rounding a corner and if at all possible do it when it is dry.
