1982 ford mustang gt just put together?

I just got done assembling a 1982 mustang that literally was nothing but a shell. I'm having one problem that's keeping me from driving it. When I compress the clutch pedal I feel some tension but its not disengaging the clutch. So when the car is running I can't put it into gear unless the motor is turned off. If I compress the pedal to the floor while it's in gear and then start the car it jumps forward. What could be the problem I haven't had any issues putting this car together until this.

Pull the clutch pedal towards the seat to adjust the cable quadrant. It should self adjust and take out the slack in the cable.

could be a miss alignment of the flywheel/transmission, bad clutch cable,or miss adjusted cable. Could also be a bad pressure plate or seized pilot bushing/bearing on the crankshaft freeplay on your clutch pedal should be about 1 to 2 inches, no more. If you have to push the clutch further than two inches b4 it gets hard to push then check flywheel alignment to trans or clutch cable adjustment.

I had a 4-speed Monza. Someone put the clutch disc in backwards, and when it wore down some, it quit disengaging. The center hub started contacting the flywheel bolts. You might want to check yours.
