What motor comes stock in 1985 mustang conv.?
1985 is a confusing year for the 5.0L Mustang.
If the car came from the factory with an automatic transmission it will have had CFI (carburator with injectors in it) and still retained a flat-tappet, iron, High Output camshaft profile.
If the car came from the factory with a five speed transmission it will be a non-CFI (carburated, no injectors within) engine and is the first year of the hydraulic roller camshaft which is steel. This cam uses roller-tipped lifters and a steel distributor gear.
So, to know specifically what you have you need to know which transmission the car came with OR you can just remove the intake completely and look to see if there's a "spider" with "dogbones" in the lifter valley that hold the lifters in place. The spider is held in by 2 small bolts that thread into the center of the block. There will not be a spider or dogbones in the CFI engine.
