When I apply the brake pedal my front turn signals light up?

Have a 1982 mustang that sat for a LONG time. Just recently put it together and started driving it. Just today my friend noticed that when I pulled into his drive way. My front turn signals where lit. We figured out that when I press the brake pedal the front signals light up. The rear brake lights light up too like normal. What would cause that? Short? I'm sure it wasnt doing this a week ago Ive checked my lights last week. Everything was normal.

the brake lights go through the turn signal to cancel the brake light when the turn signal is on. if nothing else has been done to the car , start at the turn signal switch.----------------sorry, i over thought my answer. check the brake light bulbs first. filament may be broken and contacting brake filament in the bulb.

usually caused by putting an 1156 bulb in place of an 1157 you mixed up a reverse light bulb in place of a stop light bulb
