I was looking at a 1990 Mustang 5.0 5 speed with a tremac trans and it was missing a guard or something that protects the flywheel. Would it be dangerous to drive it without that?

Not dangerous, but it would allow road grime to reach your clutch release bearing.... It's the inspection cover.

All the T5's I've seen say Tremec........unless your seller can prove otherwise, assume it's a 3.35 first gear wide-ratio box, as opposed to the 2.95 low-gear "Cobra R" close-ratio gearbox.
