How to make my 1991 Mustang 2.3l faster?

Well I have just purchased my first car (W00T!) for $2000, the car runs and looks great, I bought it with all of MY own money from my job. The car is a convertible. Well I drove it today with my dad, and the car is a dog, it accelerates so slow. My dad's V6 minivan is way faster, my car is a V4 and has 105 horsepower, that year also had duel plugs for each cylinder, so it has 8 spark plugs. I love the car but it does 0 - 60 in 14 seconds. I will be getting cash for Christmas and stuff so what could I buy to make my car faster?

apart from turbo swap and buying a complete v8 mustang and swapping it for the 4 cyl running gear not much else. yes everything will need to be swapped over. the only other way?? buy a faster car the 2.3 was the econ model for ford not the powerhouse. thats what the v8 is for... another way to get a v8 into your stang buy a crown vic.

There is another choice besides a v8, look in the salvage yards for the 84-88 Thunderbird Turbocoupe or if your lucky a 84-86 SVO Mustang.. One other is the 85-88 Merkur XR4TI.. They all come with the 2.3 Turbo engine with horse power ranging from 155 to 205 hp.. With possibilities of over 400..

definitely start with upgraded plugs, wires and cap. and add a cold air intake. but everyone else is right; the mustang isn't meant for a lawnmower engine. there aren't many upgrades you can make on a 4 cyl., nor is it worth it.

All that crap Mike suggests might get you 1/2 horsepower extra, but probably not that much.
If you want a fast car, you shouldn't buy one with a lawnmower engine in it.

Its a very heavy car with a small engine in it. Just live with the slow acceleration or sell it The only other choice is a V8 swap but that can be allot of money if you cant do that work yourself.
