X-pipe flows better than H-pipe but X-pipe sounds very raspy, whereas an H-pipe sounds glorious.

Sorry about commandeering the thread. I've recently been thinking about deleting my cats and most likely replacing them with mufflers of some sort. I have flowmaster mufflers, some sort of shorty unequal headers, h pipe. Has anyone run a catless side dump exhaust?

I've got the h-pipe on my 89 5.0, and wouldn't trade the sound for anything else.

An x pipe helps with top end power and H pipes are better on the low end.

X pipes are better from a performance stand point, but h pipes sound better, and that's what really matters.

I like the "crisp" sound of an x pipe. Really brings a nice cam to life too!

H pipe is deep low tone x pipe is an ear ringing sound. Ask yourself this where you live is muscle tolerated if yes get an x pipe. If not so much get an h pipe. What I would do is run straight pipes then decide I don't know many mustang owners who have only changed their exhaust once.

---------- Post added at 02:54 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:51 AM ----------

If you run straight duals you can change to an h or x at anytime and who knows you might like it. I am the only person in my area I know who drives a street stang with duals it's a different sound
