New engine

Ok my 302 was put in, never got tuned or idle set or anything. What do I NEED too do? I don't want it on a dyno getting redlined when I'm not even done with it yet so do I just take it somewhere and get the air/fuel, timing, and idle?
Much apprecieated guys

What is done to it? If its just a mild build then it doesn't need to be on a dyno. Just set your timing and fuel pressure if you have an adjustable regulator. Then do an idle relearn.

Mild build just cam, heads, valve covers, 24lb injectors 75mm throttle body. I did timing today and it idles a little better, and what's idle relearn?

here is the procedure:

Disconnect the battery's negative terminal to reset/clear the computer's memory. Leave it disconnected for 30 minutes.
Disconnect the plug going to your idle motor which is located on the front of your throttle body.
Reconnect your battery's negative terminal.
Start the engine, and set the idle to the rpm you want with the stop screw on the bottom of the throttle body. (arrow)
Turn off the engine.
Reconnect the plug on the idle motor.
Make sure all accessories (radio, blower motor, a/c, lights, etc) are off and start the engine.
Let engine run for two minutes.
Turn engine off and wait two minutes then restart engine and let idle for two minutes with all accessories on.
If everything was done properly the EEC-IV (read: computer) should have learned it's new idle.
