throttle body ?

Ok a buddy just bought a 95 GT 5.0 5 speed pretty nice car, he is wanting to change the throttle body on it. he's been looking at the Ford Racing TB's, what is the stock size on them and what is a good one to upgrade to, he is all stock except for exhaust, UDP's, and CAI. Also does the MAF sensor need to be changed when going with a bigger TB?

Re: throttle body ?

Its best to change the mass air too.I like the BBK products but there are plenty different ones to choose from. The frpp products are nice, edelbrock, and even the professional products. For a stock head, cam combo Id run a 65mm tb but if he is going to be doing heads and cam then Id run a 70mm,75 if going forced induction on heads and cam.

Re: throttle body ?

ok so if 60 is stock, if he went to a 70mm would the MAF sensor need to be changed as well or would he be fine running the stock one till he got the funds for the better MAF sensor.

Re: throttle body ?

Give us a call and we will build you a tune for the car. You can run the stock mass air but it a larger would be the best choice. We can build you a tune for the car that will take care of any idle issues you may have and we can modify the tune as you add more mods to the car.A dyno tune would be the best choice but not necessary until the mods are complete. It would be a waste of money to dyno tune the car for a TB change or even a mass air change, i would recommend you wait on the dyno tune until all the mods are complete.

Re: throttle body ?

Save the money on the TB, they will not yield that much power. For a stock car you should run 65mm, 70mm for mildly moded, and 75mm on highly moded or F/I applications.

Also, tuners such as the X Cal and Diablo will not work on our EEC IV ECUs. The only tuning systems availible that will is the PMS, by Anderson Motorsports, and the Tweecer RT. ACT also makes an ECU, however it's extremely expensive.

If I were him I'd invest my money into gears, they're a little more expensive than a TB, but a much better investment.
