Stock block!!

I hear a bunch of numbers my guess is 500 to the wheels and that's the limit..would I be able to run 10 to 15 pounds of boost on the stock block? Or would I have to upgrade the block..I never ring the car out or beat on it, 88,000 miles on it.

500 at the crank is pushing it. If you want 500rwhp then I would prolly get a better block.

Like dreamstang said 500 at the crank is about the limit. Some blocks could split at 450 and some might handle 600 for awhile but its a crapshoot especially when you bring boost into it. If you want 500 to the wheels, which will probably require close to 600 maybe more at the crank, then you will either need an aftermarket block or go 351 and stroke it.

Thanks guys, I think I could go to a tougher block like a boss block? I know that shifting at higher rpm under boost isn't too good for a stock block. Any suggestions you guys have for blocks let me know for sure

Well there is a main girdle you can get to strengthen the stock block. DSS racing claims it enables a stock block to handle 600hp but it will never be as good as a boss or dart block. I think the boss blocks are in the $1500 range and the dart blocks go for a little more. But it cant hurt to look around for someone who bought one and then abandoned the build or something and you might get one cheaper.

Also please keep in mind that while a girdle will help a healthy block stay healthy it wont help one that has defects already. Horsepower has nothing to do with block longevity. Well it does, but torque is more relevant. Keep this in mind. Also a good INTERNAL balance will do wonders for high horsepower builds.

I'm going to try to grab a boss block and get all forged internals, Id rather be over safe then have my car blow up under boost.

You shouldn't have any worries with that setup.
